Vaughan, Henry : Original Greeting Card - "'Tis sweet to hear the sabbath bell, Deep in a woody dell" [Color Illustration of a Snow-covered Church in a Wintry Landscape]

Original greeting card printed in multicolored ink on beige paper. Printed gray lettering on front and back. Card is unused. No date, circa 1900s-1920s. 5 3/4" x 4." Card is very clean and intact but has some age toning (hence the beige color), a few wrinkles, and a few spots of discoloration or foxing. A Very Good copy. An original greeting card that can be used to celebrate the season of winter. The title is printed at the bottom on front, which features a color illustration of a snow-covered church in a wintry landscape. The back features a printed poem titled, "A Vision," but is really an excerpt from Henry Vaughan's poem, "The World." The excerpt reads, "I saw eternity the other night, / Like a great ring of pure and endless light, / All calm, as it was bright:-- / All round beneath it, Time, in Hours, days, years / Driven by the spheres. / Like a vast shadow moved; in which the world / And all her train were hurl'd." Henry Vaughan (1621-1695) was a Welsh metaphysical poet.. Ephemera. Book Condition: Very Good. Binding: No Binding
